Perfect YOUR Look for Your Photoshoot

Hey there, couples! Planning your engagement shoot and wondering what the heck should you wear? Let's chat about attire and how it can make all the difference in your photos.

We've all heard the recommendation to wear pastel colors for a soft and romantic vibe, and I couldn't agree more. But here's the thing – while pastels are beautiful, your location and the weather play a huge role in how your images will turn out. Trust me, I've seen it all!

First things first, I always recommend my clients to consider wearing two outfits for their engagement shoot. Why? Well, because your session typically lasts about two hours, and having a wardrobe change can add variety and excitement to your photos. Plus, it's a great opportunity to showcase different sides of your personalities – from the fancy shmancy to the more casual and low-key.

Your Session, Your Style: Choose What Feels Right for You & Your Sig. Other

Remember, these are just suggestions – not rules set in stone. At the end of the day, it's your engagement session, and you should wear what makes you feel beautiful, comfortable and confident. I'm here to offer guidance and expertise, but ultimately, the choice is yours. So, let's work together to create photos that reflect your unique love story and style.

Let's talk about locations. If you're in uptown Charlotte, for example, we're spoiled for choice with beautiful parks and urban spots just a stone's throw away. I usually suggest mixing it up with two different locations to add more visual interest to your photos. Trust me, the contrast will make for even more incredible photos!

When it comes to outfit choices, I recommend something casual and comfortable for a park-type setting, and then something a bit more solid and structured for an urban setting. Fabrics that catch the wind and move gracefully, like chiffon or flowy dresses, always photograph beautifully against cityscapes.

Next, let's talk patterns. While I love a good print, I typically advise my male clients to steer clear of small, busy patterns like checkered shirts or stripes. Why? Because when you try to print the images, those patterns can create a distracting illusion that affects the overall look of the photo. Instead, opt for solid-color shirts or sweatshirts for a clean and polished look.

Ladies, feel free to add a pop of color with accessories like statement jewelry, bold shoes, or a stylish hat. While a hot pink dress can be stunning, make sure your location isn't too busy, or it might overwhelm the composition of your photos.
